Synopsis
A haunting character study about identity, fate, and the cost of chasing legacy.
Dying bootlegger Ulysses Bearup under alias Fred Mung carves a path of bloodshed through Northern Idaho in 1912. With the incarnation of Death on his heels, Ulysses confronts his legacy when he meets an ominous Hobo on a train. Haunted by Death, challenged by an ominous hobo, and accompanied by two strange figures who seem to reflect pieces of himself.
As the line between reality and illusion frays, Ulysses’ sickness gets worse. Fred is forced to reckon with who he truly is, sick, dying, Ulysses Bearup. What he’s done, a career of lying, stealing, and killing to get ahead. And whether the moniker he chose will be enough to outlive him.

Mason Dodson
Mason Dodson was born in 1995 in West Sacramento, California, to a family of lab mice (allegedly). Raised by natural storytellers, he found his passion for filmmaking early—at age 12—after his Nana gifted him a camcorder. From backyard movies starring himself with his sister behind the lens, his love for storytelling quickly grew. He went on to study film production at UC Santa Cruz, earning his bachelor’s degree before heading to Los Angeles, where he spent several years working across the film industry—from PA to Art Department, Transportation to
Acting—while continuing to write and direct his own short films.
